Sable Becoming Involved in My Business

SABLE - I never had a relationship with a kitty before. GrandPam had one, Cinder, for 22 years and we learned how to ignore each other. I have always been a dog person. She knew not to come in my space, including my side of the bed. We had always put her in the basement at night. In her later years, on moving in our Nissen Building 18th floor apartment, there was no basement. I agreed for her to remain free and she took to sleeping wrapped around Pam’s head but would never cross the center line of our bed. We also had a Lhasa Apso who lived to be 14 years old. He slept in a bed, on the floor, beside of me. When Cinder became senile, could barely walk, would howl all night like she was lost, couldn’t step in the litter box, and began invading my space thinking I was Pam, we had to put her down. For four years I was able to dodge having a replacement so we were pet-less and I was actually enjoying Pam not having those responsibilities. Honestly, I prefer being her only pet. Then our good friends and neighbors on the mountains cat had a litter and I couldn’t resist Pam‘s desire for one. Sable entered our home and life. This was drastically different from the first day at 8 weeks old. We bonded and that bond has grown for almost two years.

If you occupy my space you must be productive. Sable is efficient at sleeping, destroying things, causing general havoc, hunting chipmunks (ground squirrels to the mountain folk) mice, moles, birds, baby rabbits, hates dogs and is intrigued with deer and bears. I am working on a marketing campaign for my home inspection business, am considering an animal and assigned Sable the task of that selection. If all goes well she will make her announcement next week and explain her choice. Stay tuned, this could get interesting. Allowing her some involvement in my business could be dangerous.
